Former Reds vice-captain Daniel Agger pays for Denmark homeless team to go to World Cup

Next month sees Chile host the homeless World Cup, but the Danish team were on the verge of having to pull out after failing to raise enough funds to attend.

That was until ex-Merseysiders and current Brondby defender Agger stepped in, forking out the remaining £2,100 needed for the side to fly to Santiago.

“I talked to [Agger] and told him that we still had 20,000 krone to go, and he replied without hesitation: ‘I’ll give it you’. There is no substitute for class and Daniel has it on as well as off the field – as a player and a person,” charity worker Frits Ahlstrøm was quoted by the Mirror.
