Although Ronaldo’s arrival could also see Eden Hazard leave Stamford Bridge for a move to the Bernabeu to replace the Portuguese star, Chelsea fans won’t be too upset as they welcome the arrival of the world class goalscoring winger to their ranks.

The Blues could also be lining up a move to sign another Real Madrid star on a free transfer, giving them even more options in midfield in this superb possible XI for next season…

Goalkeeper and defence:

With minimal changes expected (or needed) in defence, Chelsea’s back four should look fairly similar next season, with Thibaut Courtois continuing to establish himself as number one for the Blues, and with the rock-solid Branislav Ivanovic, Filipe Luis, John Terry and Gary Cahill ahead of him.

Midfield:

Although Cesc Fabregas has flourished alongside Nemanja Matic this season, it would be hard for Chelsea to turn down the signing of a player of the quality of Sami Khedira on a free transfer. The German World Cup winner is thought to have a verbal agreement to move to Stamford Bridge next season, despite also attracting strong interest from Arsenal. Khedira’s arrival at Chelsea could also mean Ramires moves to the Bernabeu as the Brazilian continues to be a prime target for his old manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Attack:

In what could become one of the most feared attacks in world football, Cristiano Ronaldo takes up a role on the left-hand side here, lining up in an attacking midfield trio also containing Oscar and Andre Schurrle, with the immense goal machine Diego Costa ahead of them. There’s no doubt that if Chelsea could field this XI next season, they would be set for a lengthy period of dominance in England and Europe.
