Predicted Tottenham Hotspur Lineup Against Sunderland: New Signing Federico Fazio Likely To Make Debut

The XI Spurs are likely to field at the Stadium of Light in Saturday’s Premier League clash.

Tottenham Hotspur are unbeaten in their last eight games against Sunderland, winning six of those matches.

Spurs will be hoping to extend that fine run when they travel to the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

Here is the starting XI we think head coach Mauricio Pochettino will go with on Wearside.

Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris

Didn’t have his best game in Tottenham’s 3-0 defeat to Liverpool two weeks ago, but he is still top class and is quite literally the first name on Pochettino’s team sheet.

Right-back: Kyle Naughton

Kyle Walker recently had surgery and is out for the foreseeable future. Eric Dier withdrew from England’s Under-21 squad last week and, although he should now be fit enough to feature, Naughton will probably get the nod instead.

Left-back: Danny Rose

Should have a point to prove, having failed to make his England debut, despite being called up to Roy Hodgson’s squad for the games against Norway and Switzerland.

Centre-back: Federico Fazio

Fazio was signed for the first-team and, following Younes Kaboul’s shaky display against Liverpool, the former Sevilla captain should make his debut.

Centre-back: Jan Vertonghen

As the top defender at White Hart Lane, Vertonghen is the obvious partner for Fazio.

Midfield: Nabil Bentaleb

Bentaleb has started all three of Tottenham’s Premier League games alongside Etienne Capoue so far this season. The Algerian has outshone Capoue during those matches.

Midfield: Mousa Dembele

It is surely only a matter of time before Pochettino brings Dembele and Paulinho back into his starting XI. Dembele coming in for Capoue seems likely and the swap would improve Tottenham’s midfield massively.

Attacking midfield: Christian Eriksen

Eriksen has yet to score a goal or provide an assist in the first three Premier League games of Tottenham’s season, but he is the best player at White Hart Lane, so Pochettino will keep the faith.

Attacking midfield: Erik Lamela

Lamela continued his fine start to the season by netting in Argentina’s 4-2 win over Germany last week. The former Roma playmaker will be given the chance to impress some more at the Stadium of Light.

Attacking midfield: Nacer Chadli

Chadli is not the most fashionable attacking midfielder in the Spurs squad, but he adds power and height to their attack and he is a genuine goal threat.

Forward: Emmanuel Adebayor

Roberto Soldado is a fitness doubt, so Adebayor will lead Tottenham’s attack. The former Arsenal and Man City man netted twice as Spurs beat Sunderland 5-1 last season.
