Here’s how we rated the Man United players following their 4-0 victory over QPR at Old Trafford on Sunday evening…

GK) David de Gea – 6

A virtual spectator for the entire match, as United totally dominated proceedings. The Spaniard almost had an embarrassing moment in the first-half though when he randomly sprinted off his line and tried to clear a ball. Lucky for him, Matty Phillips couldn’t capitalise.

DR) Rafael – 8 (Valencia – 67′)

A superb return from injury from the Brazilian. Rafael looked composed in possession, and provided a regular offensive threat. United will be delighted he’s fit again.

DC) Tyler Blackett – 7

Arguably his best game in a United shirt. Blackett passed the ball simply from the back, and was strong in the air, too.

DC) Jonny Evans – 7

Evans led the defence well, but in truth, he didn’t have an awful lot to do.

DL) Marcos Rojo – 7

A solid debut from the Argentine. Playing at left-back, Rojo was happy to provide the side width, and played some clever through-balls to Juan Mata especially.

MC) Daley Blind – 8

Always in the right place at the right time. Blind provided the platform from which the rest of the side could perform. He barely gave the ball away, and settled in to life in a red shirt immiediately.

MC) Ander Herrera – 9

The Spaniard was excellent. He controlled tempo in the middle, and managed to play consistently intricate passes into the feet of Mata, Rooney and RVP. Herrera capped a wonderful performance with United’s second goal, lashing home from the edge of the area.

MC) Angel di Maria – 9 (Januzaj – 87′)

The Argentina superstar opened the scoring with a lucky freekick that snuck inside the far post. He deserved it though, and assisted two more goals. His dribbling was a particular highlight, and if he plays like this, he’ll start paying off his £59.7m fee in no time.

AMC) Juan Mata – 8 (Falcao – 67′)

Mata relished the no.10 role at the top of the midfield diamond. He bagged United’s fourth, and regularly found space between QPR’s defence and midfield.

FC) Wayne Rooney – 9

Rooney’s passing was devilishly brilliant today. He linked up exceptionally with RVP, and enjoyed a role further up the field as an out and out striker. He bagged United’s third with a clever low shot, too.

FC) Robin van Persie – 6

Sadly for the Dutchman, his performance means that he’ll likely be dropped for Falcao the next time United play.

Subs:

Falcao: 6 – Had a chance to score but couldn’t really get going.

Valencia: 6 – Wasteful in possession.

Januzaj: 5 – Missed a sitter.
