The 21-year-old looks like one of the most promising young forwards in Europe at the moment, having hit a rich vein of form since being made a first-team regular for his club last season.

Alcacer has also won a place in the senior Spanish national team, scoring his first goal for Vicente del Bosque’s side in a recent 5-1 rout of Macedonia in the international break.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea signed strikers during the summer, with Danny Welbeck joining the Gunners in a £16m deal from Manchester United on deadline day, while the Blues brought in Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Didier Drogba to enhance their options in that position.

However, both sides could still do with signing this outstanding talent for the future, with Arsenal still looking short of depth upfront and with Chelsea surely set to be without Drogba, 36, next season as he eventually moves into a coaching role at Stamford Bridge.

Alcacer certainly looks like a talent who will be moving to a bigger club before too long.
