Arsenal Face Injury Crisis As Nacho Monreal Is Ruled Out Of Borussia Dortmund Clash

Arsenal dealt injury blow as Nacho Monreal is ruled out of Champions League clash with Dortmund.

Arsenal have been dealt a serious blow ahead of their Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night, with the Telegraph reporting that Nacho Monreal has picked up an injury.

Arsenal were already short of defenders heading into the new season. With Mathieu Debuchy set to miss up to three months with an ankle ligament injury and now Monreal out with an unspecified injury, the Gunners are teetering dangerously close to a crisis at the back.

The Spaniard was left at home as the team flew out to Germany ahead of the fixture, although it is believed not to be too serious of an injury.

Thankfully for Arsenal fans Kieran Gibbs has recently returned from a hamstring problem, so the Englishman will almost certainly slot in for Monreal. Young Calum Chambers is expected to replace Frenchman Debuchy at right-back, although that will leave the Gunners with no cover at centre-back.

Youth players Hector Bellerin and Isaac Hayden could be set for an early call up this season, with both showing promise in pre-season. It would be not ideal however to throw either of them into a Champions League match against Dortmund straight away.
