Wenger still keen to add to forward line.
Arsenal are said to be running the rule over talented Borussia Monchengladbach striker Max Kruse with the view to making a move for him during the January transfer window.
Arsenal were in desperate need of a striker in the summer but only managed to bring in Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, who has been occupying more of a wide role since his arrival.
However, following Olivier Giroud’s injury at the end of August, Wenger then sought to bring in Danny Welbeck from Manchester United in a £16m deal.
But CaughtOffside understands that Wenger is aware that he still needs more cover for his frontmen and will turn to the Germany international in the January transfer window after being encouraged by his low £10m fee.
Kruse has been making a name for himself as a talented striker over the past two seasons, having notched up 12 goals in 39 games for Freiburg, before grabbing himself another 11 striker in 30 appearances last term.
Wenger sees him as an ideal back up to Giroud and Welbeck, and bringing him to the Emirates this summer would allow the manager to move the likes of Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell out on loan.
