(Video) Partizan Belgrade 0-0 Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs Fail To Create In Europa League Stalemate

Mauricio Pochettino’s men relatively fortunate to get a point from Europa League trip to Belgrade.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino handed maiden starts to new signings Federico Fazio and Benjamin Stambouli for their Europa League trip to Partizan Belgrade, with Harry Kane starting on his own upfront in a defensive looking line up from their Argentine boss.

The visitors started on the front foot, however, with Kane in particularly proving to be a menace to the Serbian defence, hitting the bar with a snapshot early on, with the England Under 21 star unfortunate not to find the back of the net.

As the game drifted on, however, Partizan began to grow in confidence and controlled long periods of the game in a dreadful pitch in Belgrade, with Danilo Pantic forcing a smart save out of Hugo Lloris during the dying embers of the first half.

The second began in much the same vein, with Partizan dominating territory but struggling to carve out clear opportunities against a strong Spurs defence, whilst some of Stambouli’s work in midfield will have impressed watching Tottenham fans, particularly this fine piece of skill to bamboozle the Partizan midfield.

With Lloris continuing to be the busier of the two goalkeepers, Mauricio Pochettino threw on Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado for the final 20 minutes or so, but both were largely ineffectual, despite Lamela showing some neat touches to play his way into space on a dreadful playing surface.

In the end the game petered out into a largely uneventful 0-0 draw, a result that neither side will be too unhappy with, especially considering a late equaliser for Asteras Tripolis in their trip to Besiktas meaning that the group remains locked together after one round of matches.
