Six Potential Signings Arsenal Could Line Up For The January Window, Including World Class Striker

Six possible January options for Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal have endured a relatively disappointing start to the 2014/15 season, despite a positive transfer window that saw them secure the signings of Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy and Danny Welbeck, with three successive Premier League draws and a Champions League defeat to Borussia Dortmund dampening spirits at the Emirates Stadium.

It is likely that manager Arsene Wenger is likely to delve back into the market come January, with a defensive midfielder seemingly a particular priority, although all six of these are possibilities:

Adrien Rabiot (Paris Saint Germain)

Arsenal were thought to be tracking the availability of impressive young PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot during the summer window, with the playmaker thought to be keen to move on in search of increased first team opportunities, something that Arsenal could afford to Rabiot if they follow through their interest in January.

Pedro (Barcelona)

Despite an impressive goalscoring record and being well-liked by the club’s fiercely loyal supporters, winger Pedro has never quite become the crucial part of the Barcelona machine that he perhaps deserves to be – which could mean that a move away from the Nou Camp is on the cards, with both Arsenal and rivals Liverpool being linked with a move for the electric wide man once the window reopens.

Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint Germain)

It may be a particularly optimistic link, but Arsenal are being mentioned as a potential January destination for world class Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani. Whilst it does appear fanciful at first, if Cavani is hell-bent on leaving the Parc des Princes then he is unlikely to be flush with options, with Manchester United surely having reached their quota of top class forwards?

Gianelli Imbula (Olympique Marseille)

If a physical presence in the central of midfield is what Wenger is looking for then Marseille star Gianelli Imbula could be just the man, with the Gunners reportedly on alert after the Ligue 1 club decided to listen to offers for a player dubbed as ‘The New Vieira’.

Isco (Real Madrid)

Arsenal have also been linked with a January move for unsettled Real Madrid playmaker, along with rivals Liverpool, with the Spanish international seemingly keen to leave the Bernabeu in search of first team football after not being given the opportunities since arriving from Malaga in the summer of 2013 – but is another attacking midfielder really what the Gunners need to make the next step up?

Victor Wanyama (Southampton)

After being linked with Morgan Schneiderlin for much of the summer, it appears as though Arsenal’s attention has turned towards his Southampton teammate Victor Wanyama, with the Gunners being linked with a January swoop for the Kenyan international. Former Celtic star Wanyama would certainly add presence to a currently powderpuff central area for Arsene Wenger.
