In a new development concerning the AS Roma midfielder the Red Devils have been told Strootman will cost them a colossal £60m, according to the Mirror.

Manager Louis van Gaal has made the Netherlands international his top January target and the player himself is also keen on the move.

In fact the 24-year-old has so firmly set his heart on a switch to Old Trafford he has dropped his agent to link up with Robin van Persie’s representative Kes Vos instead.

Van Gaal denies claims from Bayern Munich that their players rejected United this summer

Bayern head coach Pep Guardiola has ruffled feathers at the Theatre of Dreams by stating many of his players were contacted by the 13-time Premier League champions over the summer.

Guardiola said that the Red Devils made moves for many of his stars, but that they were in no financial position to make the deals happen – something which van Gaal has strongly denied.

“Every player I have contacted wants to play for Manchester United,” the Dutchman was quoted by the Guardian.

United playing it cool over possible return of Cristiano Ronaldo

In what now appears to be an annual occurrence the Real Madrid superstar has once again been linked with a return to England next summer.

Ronaldo has openly expressed his desire to come back to Manchester in the future and it’s said the 29-year-old is currently unhappy at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

“It is possible [the return of Ronaldo]. Players like Ronaldo give a lot extra to the team, but I don’t think Real Madrid shall sell him,” van Gaal was quoted by the Telegraph.

Adnan Januzaj wanted by Fiorentina and Juventus on-loan

The 19-year-old has found consistent game time hard to come by this season due to the large influx of new talent and two Serie A giants have spotted an opportunity.

According to Italian source TuttoMercatoWeb both Fiorentina and Juve are keen on giving Januzaj more first team chances during a loan deal in the New Year.

Van Gaal may well be open to this idea with the current headache of having to give the Belgium international playing time along with the likes of Angel di Maria and Juan Mata.

Javier Hernandez says United did not believe in him

Having found himself down the pecking order at Old Trafford the striker finally left this summer and completed a loan more to Madrid.

Hernandez had fallen behind Wayne Rooney, van Persie and Danny Welbeck (who has since been sold to Arsenal) in the pecking order, whilst Radamel Falcao has since been acquired on-loan from AS Monaco.

“There was no confidence. I remained patient and that’s why I’m here today. It was a very tough year especially because they didn’t believe in me,” the 26-year-old was quoted by the Mirror.
