Here’s the side Brendan Rodgers could select for Liverpool in the League Cup, with the Reds facing Middlesborough this evening at Anfield.
GK) Brad Jones
The Aussie could get his first run-out of the season, with Simon Mignolet on the bench following his awful start to the season.
DR) Javier Manquillo
Despite being subbed after 20 minutes versus West Ham, Manquillo will play against the Championship club, because no-one else is fit!
DL) Jose Enrique
The Spaniard will likely get given a first start of the season.
DC) Dejan Lovren
The Croatian desperately needs to find some form – so will likely start.
DC) Kolo Toure
The veteran Ivorian could get his first minutes of the season, although Rodgers could choose to select Skrtel and help his relationship develop with the new signing.
MC) Lucas
Unlikely to be a Premier League regular, Lucas could get the nod in the League Cup.
MC) Adam Lallana
The £26m signing will surely get a chance to get some match fitness.
AMC) Coutinho
AMR) Fabio Borini
The Italian is capable of doing a job on the right, with Sterling likely to be given a rest.
AML) Lazar Markovic
Markovic will likely earn his second start versus Aitor Karanaka’s men.
FC) Rickie Lambert
Rodgers has confirmed that he’ll start the summer signing up top against Boro’.
