The Premier League has played host to some of the finest creators in the world. Some didn’t stay long enough, whilst others weren’t in teams that could competently support their talents. However, below are the all time top five assist makers in the Premier League using current stats.

5. Thierry Henry – Arsenal
Assists: 80
It’s no wonder why Henry is so highly regarded in north London, as during his time at the club he notched up an amazing 175 league goals. Not only that, though, he excelled himself as one of the top flights greatest ever creators by clocking up 80 assists. His trademark ventures down the wing usually resulted in a goal, if not for him then for someone else instead.
4. Wayne Rooney – Manchester United & Everton
Assists: 90
Rooney is another of the Premier League’s stars with his fingers in both pies. Currently on 175 goals himself, the England captain has excelled in providing for others. It’s no wonder why so many want him playing in the hole just behind the front two for club and country as he is so effective there and often runs amok. There is a great chance that he will eventually top both goal scoring and creating lists if he continues to chalk up both at the same rate.
3. Frank Lampard – West Ham, Chelsea & Man City
Assists: 95
The third player in the top five to have chalked up enough goals to land him in the top five. Having bagged 171 goals (the last one coming for Manchester City this weekend) he has proved that he is too a creative tour de force by laying on 95 assists for his teammates. As it stands he has until January to add a few more to that list before heading off for a swan song in the United States.
2. Steven Gerrard – Liverpool
Assists: 99
Just one shy of a century, that so far elusive 100th assist will likely come sooner rather than later as Gerrard has proved that even though he is 34 he hasn’t lost any of the old magic. He has of course clocked himself a number of goals too, but for every howitzer he’s rocketed past an opposition goalkeeper he’s laid one on for someone else too.
1. Ryan Giggs – Manchester United
Assists: 131
It’ll take anyone a long time to catch up to Giggs considering he enjoyed a 20-year plus career at the top of his game, providing assists to some of the Premier League’s greatest ever strikers. The Welshman adapted his role from flying winger to central midfield string puller as he got older, but that didn’t slow down the production line much. Realistically only Wayne Rooney can catch him up at the moment, but it’ll still be a tall order as Giggs remains one of the finest players to have graced the Premier League.
