Alexis Sanchez scored a contender for free-kick of the season so far, with this brilliant effort. Sanchez picked himself up after being brought down, and smashed his effort home, right footed into the top left hand corner of the goal. You can see the free-kick below:

Dusan Tadic outwitted Arsenal’s new goalkeeper David Ospina as he rolled his spot kick straight down the middle, to level the scores for Southampton. Tomas Rosicky brought down Saints new boy Sadio Mane in the penalty area, and Tadic calmly converted, left-footed from twelve yards, as you can see here:

Nathaniel Clyne then scored a contender for goal of the season with a thunderbolt strike, which put Southampton ahead. Clyne struck a hard shot from around 35-yards out, and the ball flew high into the net, speeding past the despairing dive of David Ospina in the Gunners goal. Ospina took a step to his right, leaving him unbalanced, but credit to Clyne – whose strike was an absolute rocket. See it here:

It was a disappointing night for Arsenal against an admittedly strong Southampton team. The Gunners are lacking strength in depth, particularly in defence. This should act as another eye opener to Arsene Wenger in regards to where he needs to improve come January.
