Liverpool James Milner: Could Reds secure City’s Englishman
Here’s the much changed side Jose Mourinho could choose to start for Chelsea this evening in the League Cup against Bolton Wanderers.
GK) Petr Cech
The veteran keeper will be given the chance to start for the Blues, with first-choice Thibaut Courtois rested.
DR) Cesar Azpilicueta
The Spaniard could switch to the right of the defence to enable Branislav Ivanovic a rest.
DL) Filipe Luis
The Brazilian summer signing should earn his second start for the Blues.
DC) Kurt Zouma
With Terry and Cahill likely to start every big match when both are fit, Zouma’s chances in 2014/15 will be limited – but the League Cup provides Jose Mourinho an excellent opportunity to blood him.
DC) Gary Cahill
Cahill could captain the side, and help guide Zouma through the fixture.
MC) Nathan Ake
The young Dutchman could get the nod for a central midfield spot. He plays defensively, and is also comfortable in possession.
MC) John Obi Mikel
Mikel rarely gets a lookout in the first-choice starting XI, so could pick an appearance in the League Cup.
AMR) Mohamed Salah
Salah badly needs game time, and the rapid Egyptian will be desperate to impress Mourinho if given the nod this evening.
AMC) Oscar
With Cesc Fabregas Mourinho’s first-choice creative midfielder, Oscar has fallen slightly down the Stamford Bridge pecking order. He didn’t play against City, so will surely get the nod v Bolton.
AML) Andre Schurrle
The World Cup winning German would be an automatic starter for most teams, but after bagging against Manchester City from the bench, he deserves another starting spot.
FC) Loic Remy
Diego Costa should be rested, meaning Remy could get his first Chelsea start tonight – although Didier Drogba is also vying for a spot.
