GK – Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea – 86

The 22-year-old is rated as one of the best goalkeepers on the game after his three fine years on-loan with Atletico Madrid and his impressive start with the Blues.

RB – Pablo Zabaleta, Manchester City – 82

It’s difficult to disagree with this one as since joining the Citizens in 2008 this Argentina international has been ever present in all their success and goes about his job quietly and assuredly.

CB – Per Mertesacker, Arsenal – 83

Perhaps a surprise choice as many rate the German’s central defensive partner Laurent Koscielny more highly, although John Terry also scores 83 according to FIFA but we had to pick one.

CB – Vincent Kompany, Manchester City – 86

The only representative from the English top tier to also make it into the top 10 defenders on the game, with the City captain a real enforcer at the back for the reigning champions.

LB – Jan Vertonghen, Tottenham Hotspur – 82

Another surprising addition now and although Vertonghen generally plays as a centre-back for Spurs he can also operate on the left, with Filipe Luis also rated 82 by FIFA.

CM – Yaya Toure, Manchester City – 86

No midfielder scored more league goals in 2013/14 in England than this Ivorian, who netted 20 as his team went onto lift their second title in three years.

RM – David Silva, Manchester City – 87

Players from Manuel Pellegrini’s squad just keep on coming and this Spaniard deserves his place with no one providing more assists in the league that him since his arrival from Valencia in 2010.

LM – Eden Hazard, Chelsea – 88

Featured on the cover of the new game and it’s perhaps therefore unsurprising that he has the best rating from the division as well, although there is no doubting that Hazard is a class act.

CAM – Mesut Ozil, Arsenal – 86

Just sneaking in ahead of Angel di Maria despite the fact both playmakers score 86, Ozil is yet to live up to his reputation at the Gunners but has shown enough to suggest it will happen.

ST – Robin van Persie, Manchester United – 88

Some may be a little confused by this one as although van Persie is undoubtedly a top-class player, whether he is the best striker in the division is debatable.

ST – Radamel Falca0, Manchester United – 88

Completing an all United front line is a forward who made a shock loan move to Old Trafford from AS Monaco on transfer deadline day and is regarded as one of the best finishers in world football.
