Germany international Toni Kroos HAD agreed to join Manchester United this summer, but changed his mind once he learned that Louis Van Gaal had been appointed as manager, the Daily Mirror reports.

Former Premier League striker, Jan Arge Fjortoft, who is now a respected journalist in his native Norway, took to Twitter on Wednesday night to break the story.
“Been told from very good sources that Toni Kroos agreed to join Man UTD. But after Moyes out – Van Gaal in: Kroos said no,” he said.

Kroos instead opted to join European Champions Real Madrid on a six-year deal.
His contract at Bayern Munich was set to expire at the end of the current season, and the Spaniards pounced with a £20m offer to snap him up.
United instead moved for Ander Herrera and Daley Blind to strengthen their midfield.
