Pep Guardiola already has a whole host of world class talents to choose from in the attacking midfield positions at his club, but if he is set on bringing in yet another playmaker to his squad, then these five Premier League stars could prove far better options for him:

5) Juan Mata (Manchester United)

Supposedly a January transfer target for Juventus, Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata has not been quite at his best since moving to Old Trafford from Chelsea earlier this year, though he remains a world class talent who could shine under Guardiola and with better players around him at Bayern. A potential bargain at just £24m, his rumoured asking price this season.

4) David Silva (Manchester City)

A stylish and creative player, Manchester City star David Silva seems unlikely to be let go by his club anytime soon, but the Spaniard would no doubt be an improvement on Ozil in the ‘number 10’ role for Bayern, as he has shown himself to be a playmaker capable of inspiring tremendous success, winning two Premier League titles and other honours in his time at the Etihad Stadium.

3) Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal)

If Bayern are to raid Arsenal, they might be better off moving for in-form Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who has been far more effective in almost all departments than his team-mate Ozil in recent times. The 23-year-old looks like becoming truly world class, and could be tempted to replicate the success of his fellow international team-mate Gareth Bale by moving abroad.

2) Oscar (Chelsea)

A player not quite at his best this season, Chelsea may be ready to let Brazilian attacker Oscar move for the right price if Bayern come calling. There’s no doubt that on his day the Blues playmaker is a superb talent, who may benefit from a new challenge after appearing to go a little stale at Stamford Bridge.

1) Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

One of the Premier League’s best attacking midfielders, there’s no doubt Chelsea star Eden Hazard would be a better investment than Ozil, even if he would be far more expensive. The Belgian international is a sensational player capable of scoring goals from anywhere, as well as being a great creative player. Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on him, but Bayern should try their luck with a bid, even if Jose Mourinho is unlikely to sell to his old nemesis Guardiola.
