Barcelona star Lionel Messi is the biggest name being linked with the Blues, and the prospect of the Argentine goal machine lining up in attack alongside the likes of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard is certainly a mouth-watering prospect even for neutral fans, with Jose Mourinho possibly set to field the bext XI in world football.

Other big names are also being linked with the club, and this is what their team could look like next season if they pull off this ambitious work in the transfer market:

Goalkeeper and defence:

Supposedly Chelsea’s top target to come in at right-back, Seamus Coleman could move to Stamford Bridge from Everton in a £20m deal, which would then logically see Branislav Ivanovic move into the middle alongside Gary Cahill as the ageing John Terry presumably plays less regularly for the club.

Midfield:

Possibly set for a staggering £50m move to Chelsea, Everton starlet Ross Barkley is one of the club’s top targets after establishing himself as one of the best young talents in England. Manchester City are also interested, but the 20-year-old could line up in a superb midfield three alongside Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas.

Attack:

In a mind-blowingly good attacking three, Lionel Messi will presumably take up a fairly free role on the right-hand side, with the free-scoring Diego Costa in the middle and Eden Hazard out on the left. It is hard to imagine anything better in world football, though Real Madrid’s options of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez come close.
