The Glazers are working out a big money offer for the 29 year old ahead of negotiations with his agent Jorge Mendes though the starting point for Ronaldo’s wages are said to be an astounding £500k a week.

It may be fair to say that there has been a fair amount of opposition to the Glazer family since they took over at Old Trafford back in May 2005 and any move that saw new owners take over, as well as the return of former star Cristiano Ronaldo, would no doubt go down very well indeed.

Man United’s owners have been happy to hand new boss Louis van Gaal huge sums to invest in his squad over the summer which is perhaps not the act of a group looking to prepare for a sale though the American family will be well aware that selling a club with a Champions League berth will prove far easier than one without.

Malcolm Glazer, the club’s former owner, died in May and now his sons Joel and Avram are at the helm.

The Glazers will look to garner £3bn from the sale of the club.
