Here are seven players Perez should never have sold.

Arjen Robben

The Dutch winger was injury prone during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu but since moving to Bayern Munich, he has got his fitness under control and become one of the best players in the world. He could have done this at Los Blancos had Perez been patient.

Wesley Sneijder

Like Robben, Sneijder has flourished since he moved away from Madrid, becoming a wonderful number 10. Again, the Dutch man could have done special things in the Spanish capital if he had been given a chance.

Alvaro Morata

The Spaniard is one of the best young strikers in the world and could have led the line at Real for years to come. However, due to new arrivals like James Rodriguez, Morata was forced to move to Juventus to get first team football. That may come back to haunt Perez and Real Madrid one day.

Mesut Ozil

Although the German hasn’t been at his best for Arsenal this season, he is still one of the best playmakers in the world. It is a surprise that a player of that quality was allowed to leave last summer.

Xabi Alonso

The veteran midfielder played a key role in helping Real win their 10th Champions League title last season. His loss will leave a huge gap in Carlo Ancelotti’s team due to his experience.

Claude Makelele

Selling Makelele was one of Perez biggest mistakes during his first spell as Real president. Selling the Frenchman broke the back of Los Blancos midfield and meant that they were vulnerable defensively.

Angel Di Maria

Although Real got £59.7 million for Di Maria, they lost a world class player who played a major role in last season successes. Real will miss his pace and skill this season.
