The Colombian international has long been tracked by a host of top European clubs after his superb goalscoring form for Porto in the last few years, with the 27-year-old finding the back of the net 65 times in just 96 appearances for the Portuguese giants in total.

Tottenham could do with strengthening upfront after manager Mauricio Pochettino failed to bring in anyone in that area during the summer, with current strikers Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor failing to impress so far this season.

Martinez would no doubt be an upgrade on these players, having shown that he can score goals at a superb rate at the top level of European football, having shown himself to be something of a late bloomer in the game.

The player himself would surely be tempted by a move to the Premier League, though it is also thought that Serie A side Napoli and La Liga outfit Valencia are monitoring his situation ahead of the January transfer window, as they also look to improve their attacking options this season.
