Having made his name in European football with FC Porto over the past two years Jackson Martinez has become recognised as one of the best strikers in the game currently.

As a result several top clubs have been linked with the Colombia international and here are five potential destinations for Martinez.

Arsenal

Despite the fact the Gunners bought Danny Welbeck from Manchester United on transfer deadline day over the summer for £16m, many still think more attacking support is needed at the Emirates Stadium.

This is because Olivier Giroud is currently out injured until 2015 and youngster Yaya Sanogo looks short on form and Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of Martinez.

Liverpool

It’s a similar story at Anfield where manager Brendan Rodgers also recruited in attack over the summer – with Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli both arriving – but the blow of losing Luis Suarez to FC Barcelona has still not been addressed.

Suarez netted 31 Premier League goals in 2013/14 and with Lambert and Balotelli yet to start scoring consistently Rodgers could well try and sign a poacher in the mould of Martinez.

Napoli

The Reds are also targeting Gonzalo Higuain however, with the Argentina international reported to be unhappy at the Stadio Olimpico currently and therefore a replacement will be needed.

Rafael Benitez views Martinez as the ideal candidate as the 27-year-old is the same age as Higuain and operates in a similar style to the Argentine in attack.

Tottenham Hotspur

New Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is also keeping an eye on developments as he looks to improve his own force in the final third, with options and form severely lacking currently.

Roberto Soldado has been something of a flop since his £26m 2013 switch from Valencia, whilst Harry Kane has still not proved himself and Emmanuel Adebayor is the only striker who has given any sort of decent showing.

FC Porto

Of course there is always the distinct possibility that the South American will stay put at the Estadio do Dragao having only recently signed a new contract with the Primeira Liga club.

Martinez has enjoyed an impressive time with Porto to date, scoring 67 goals for them in 100 appearances in all competitions to date.
