How Arsenal’s 2014/15 XI Should Look After £72m January Transfer Spree Including Goal Machine Signing & Real Madrid Raid

This is how Arsene Wenger’s Emirates Stadium side should look after a decent level of investment in the January transfer window.

Though still unbeaten in Premier League action it would be fair to say that Arsenal are not firing on all cylinders and the lack of investment in some areas is becoming all too clear during yet another injury crisis.

If Arsenal really want to challenge for major honours we feel they should invest the £70m+ needed to bring in these new names to help boost a club and convert them from also-rans into genuine title contenders on both Premier and Champions League fronts.

Iker Casillas (Real Madrid)

Out of contract in the summer and sure to be available at a reasonable price and a much better option than current number one Wojciech Szczesny.

Kieran Gibbs

Long serving left-back, when fully fit, is a class act.

Calum Chambers

Having shown maturity beyond his years we’d opt to use the former Southampton man ahead of Per Mertesacker.

Laurent Koscielny

French defender is as assured as ever and on his day is pretty much impossible to get past.

Mathieu Debuchy

Will hopefully recover from his long term injury to take the right-back berth.

Chieck Tiote (Newcastle United)

Everyone, bar Arsene Wenger it seems, knows Arsenal need an out and out defensive midfielder. The chase for Sami Khedira is never ending, why not instead punt for Newcastle United enforcer Tiote, who has stated his intention to leave St James’ Park.

Aaron Ramsey

Welshman may not be at the same level he was last season but is still one of the first names on our team-sheet.

Danny Welbeck

We opt to play the former Man United man out wide, not convinced of his finishing abilities and the hard worker can make things happen on the wing.

Mesut Ozil

Has come if for a lot of unfair criticism but has shown some real character in recent weeks. We play him in a floating role behind our striker.

Alexis Sanchez

Chilean is adapting well to life in England, has to start and is out in a wide attacking role in our XI.

Edinson Cavani

Even before he was sidelined it’s fair to say Olivier Giroud didn’t deliver frequently enough, time for a real ‘goal machine’ and time for Arsenal to once again smash their transfer record to bring in the PSG striker.
