Arsenal & Newcastle stars also included…
This side cost Premier League clubs an enormous amount of money back in the summer, but the players included have failed to live up to their hefty price-tags as of yet…
On current form, this XI would likely be in a relegation scrap right now!
GK) David Ospina – Arsenal
Sadly for the Colombian, it doesn’t look like he’ll get a sniff this term. With Wojciech Szczesny first-choice, Ospina would have been given League Cup matches, but Arsenal lost their opener – with Ospina playing pretty appallingly in the process.
DR) Daryl Janmaat – Newcastle
The Dutch right-back excelled at the World Cup, but has not looked up to Premier League standard at all.
DC) Dejan Lovren – Liverpool
Liverpool sold Daniel Agger for £3m, and signed Lovren for £20m… Ask Liverpool fans who they’d rather have in the side right now, and few would pick the younger, and far more expensive Croatian.
DC) Rio Ferdinand – QPR
There’s a reason why United let Ferdinand leave on a free transfer. He’s totally bereft of pace, and in the Premier League, that’s suicidal in this day and age. QPR fans will hope Harry Redknapp pulls him out of the firing line before long.
DL) Luke Shaw – Manchester United
Shaw has been criticised by Louis van Gaal for being overweight, and rumours have circulated that the Dutch boss doesn’t rate the youngster anyway. We’d forgive this, if Shaw wasn’t the world’s most expensive fullback of all time.
MC) Sandro – QPR
Signed for £10m, Sandro injured himself sliding on his knees after celebrating a training goal.
MC) Remy Cabella – Newcastle
Cabella was part of France’s World Cup squad, but you wouldn’t know it judging by his performances so far for the Magpies. To be fair, he’s been no worse than his teammates, it has to be said.
AMR) Lazar Markovic – Liverpool
Markovic cost a lofty £20m, but his touch, decision making and passing has been very, very poor. The young Serbian hasn’t been given too many opportunities, but he doesn’t deserve to be in the side right now on current showing.
AML) Adam Lallana – Liverpool
Lallana cost Liverpool £26m, making him one of the most expensive English footballers of all time. While he’s slowly improving, he’s done nothing creative of note at all so far.
FC) Shane Long – Southampton
Long cost the Saints £12m, which made Premier League fans scoff back in August. Now, we can see why. Three Premier League starts and three appearances from the bench have yielded no goals so far.
FC) Mario Balotelli – Liverpool
Balotelli arrived for a suggested bargain £16m, but has so far yet to bag in the Premier League for the Reds. He’s played fairly well, but there’s sadly no way he’ll replace Luis Suarez at Anfield in the long-term.
