Wenger takes a swipe at former Emirates fan favourite.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has taken another step to prove that he has moved on from Cesc Fabregas joining London rivals Chelsea by insisting that the club did not need him.
There were heavy calls from the Gunners faithful to bring the Spanish international back to the club over the summer after he was made available by Barcelona.
However, Arsenal failed to move for him and instead moved to sign his Barcelona teammate Alexis Sanchez instead.
And speaking with respected journalist Henry Winter, Wenger admitted that he did not need to sign the World Cup winner as he already had plenty of options in place.

But Wenger did rein himself in before going too far by adding that he hoped to see the player gwet a warm reception from his former fans when the two sides meet this weekend.
“Everyone respects Cesc here and I want him to get the reception he deserves on Sunday”, he added.
