The Merseyside club have allegedly agreed a fee in the region of £8m for MK Dons wonderkid Dele Alli, despite apparent interest from United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

The 18-year-old is considered an extremely promising talent and has been particularly impressive for the England Under-19s.

The Reds have been chasing him for months as they look to build for the future, anticipating the retirement of their talismanic captain Gerrard.

The youngster recently signed a new contract that would keep him with the Dons until 2017, but current boss Karl Robinson admitted that he knew Alli was too big of a talent to stay at the club forever.

“Dele will continue to be linked with some of the world’s biggest clubs and it’s inevitable that there will be a time when we will have to let him go, whether that be in January, next summer or whenever,” Robinson said.

He may be set to lose him sooner rather than later however, with reports suggesting that the deal has already been agreed ahead of a January move.

Rodgers may allow him to return to the MK Dons Stadium for the remainder of the season, with the promising midfielder joining up with his new teammates next summer.
