Manchester United News Roundup: Permanent Falcao Deal Agreed, Di Maria To Tempt Former Teammate To Old Trafford And Ex-Red Devil Targeted

Friday’s biggest stories for the Red Devils.

Manchester United agree personal terms to sign Radamel Falcao permanently

In a bid to avoid the same debacle that involved Carlos Tevez in 2009 a deal has already been agreed with Falcao for a permanent contract, according to the Daily Mail.

At that time although a £25m buyout fee had been sorted for Tevez the Argentine failed to finalise personal terms and instead joined rivals Manchester City.

However, chief executive Ed Woodward has already negotiated a £250,000-a-week deal with Falcao plus the £43.5m to be paid to AS Monaco.

Angel di Maria and Falcao to convince Fabio Coentrao to come to Old Trafford

Louis van Gaal wants an experienced left-back to compliment and help nurture Luke Shaw and has identified Real Madrid’s Coentrao as that man.

According to the Daily Express the Portugal international is unsettled at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and would be open to a move away.

Coentrao has the same agent as di Maria and Falcao and van Gaal is hoping his current stars can tempt some new talent to join them.

Red Devils on alert as Dani Alves reveals he wants a Premier League switch

The FC Barcelona right-back has admitted that this is his last season at the Nou Camp and that he wants to come to England.

“I am moving to England next year. I am going to play at the home of football. This will be my last year at Barcelona,” Alves told O Globo.

United and Liverpool are leading the chase for the Brazilian, with concerns over both Rafael and Glen Johnson respectively.

Former star Gerard Pique is a January target

Alves isn’t the only Barca defender being targeted by the 13-time Premier League champions as a New Year deal for Pique is lined up, according to the Daily Star.

The Spain international spent four years at the Theatre of Dreams previously between 2004 and 2008 and currently cuts a frustrated figure in Catalonia.

New head coach Luis Enrique prefers the central defensive partnership of Javier Mascherano and Jeremy Mathieu and this has left Pique sidelined.

Danny Welbeck critical of former side for playing him out of position

It’s been a positive start to life at Arsenal for the £16m deadline day signing, scoring four goals already including a Champions League hat-trick on Wednesday.

Many are surprised at the apparent overnight improvement of Welbeck, but the 23-year-old claims the reason he didn’t do this for the Red Devils is because he was played out of position.

“Obviously, people can say I have not scored enough goals, but you stick the best strikers on the wing in a four-man midfield and see if they score goals,” the England international was quoted by the Times.
