Blues join chase for want-away Barcelona star.
Chelsea have been linked with a surprise move for Barcelona right-back and rumoured Liverpool target Dani Alves, according to Fichajes.net.
The Blues are the latest of several clubs to be linked with the unsettled Brazilian international, who has recently stated his desire to move to the Premier League at the end of his contract next summer.
This has sparked interest from both Liverpool and Manchester United, who are in need of signings in the full-back area, though it is somewhat surprising to see Chelsea targeting him as they have the likes of Branislav Ivanovic and Cesar Azpilicueta to choose from in that department.
However, Jose Mourihno’s side have also been recently linked with a move for Everton’s Seamus Coleman, suggesting that the Portuguese coach perhaps plans to switch Ivanovic to the centre, while continuing to use Azpilicueta ahead of Filipe Luis at left-back.
Alves has been a key player for Barcelona in his time at the club and would represent a big-name arrival to the Premier League if he does ultimately decide to quit the Nou Camp next season.
He could be one of two Barca stars heading for Stamford Bridge, with the club also linked with a shock move for Lionel Messi.
