We have seen some truly shocking players line up for both sides in the past, but derby day can sometimes bring the best out of players and see them give the performance of their lives.

Here are the eight worst players ever to have been on the winning side during an Arsenal v Chelsea match:

8) Jose Bosingwa

There were high hopes for Bosingwa when he joined Chelsea in 2008, but he was a constant disappointment to Blues fans throughout his surprisingly lengthy stay at Stamford Bridge.

He went on to join QPR, causing outrage from fans when he was seen smiling and laughing moments after the team’s relegation was sealed in 2013.

The right-back started for Chelsea in a dominant 4-1 win over Arsenal in 2009.

7) Remi Garde

Who remembers Remi Garde? One of the first players brought in by Arsene Wenger, he made just a handful of appearances for the Gunners over a three year spell before his career began to tail off.

Garde started in a 3-0 win over Chelsea in 1997.

6) Stephen Hughes

Once seen as a fantastic prospect, injuries all but put an end to Hughes’ career. He was eventually shipped off to Everton where he continued his downward spiral and never recovered.

The former Arsenal man did however score both goals in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Chelsea in 1998.

5) Andre Santos

After a decent start to his Arsenal career Santos soon became a pantomime villain thanks to his sheer inability to defend.

His brightest moment in an Arsenal shirt was scoring a superb goal in Arsenal’s 5-3 win over Chelsea in 2011.

Andre Santos totally lost the faith of the fans when he swapped shirts at half-time with former Gunner Robin van Persie. The Brazilian became nearly as hated as the Dutchman after that, and his exit was all but ensured.

4) Kaba Diawara

During three spells in English football the striker failed to score a single league goal.

Needless to say he was quickly removed from the books at Arsenal after making just 12 appearances.

One of those appearances just happened to be during the Gunners’ 1-0 win over Chelsea in 1999.

3) Andy Myers

Arguably one of Chelsea’s worst defenders in the Premier League era, Myers somehow managed to keep a clean sheet against Arsenal in 1995.

In what was a somewhat shock result Myers and Chelsea managed to grab a 1-0 win against the Gunners.

After a number of years with the London club went on to play for Bradford, but after that his career began to tail off a little.

2) Pascal Cygan

How this Frenchman ever made 63 appearances for the Gunners is beyond most fans, but nonetheless Cygan spent an unbelievable four years at Arsenal.

His inability to defend was at times comical. Probably less so for Arsenal fans as he was their centre-back.

Cygan made an appearance in a 2-1 win over Chelsea in 2003.

1) Frank Sinclair

It wasn’t always clear which team Sinclair played for, the defender regularly putting the ball into the back of his own net.

He was with the Blues for an astonishing eight years, before being moved on to Leicester City in 1998.

Sinclair scored six own goals during his career.

Thankfully for Chelsea fans he managed to keep the ball out on one occasion during his side’s 1-0 over Arsenal in 1993.
