While the Gunners had plenty of possession, they rarely threatened the Blues goal and Mourinho’s side ended up being comfortable winners.

Take a look at their player ratings below:

GK: Wojciech Szczesny – 5

Szczesny continues to look fallible in the Gunners goal. He wasn’t decisive enough in doing something about Chelsea’s second goal.

RB: Calum Chambers – 6

The young right-back continues to improve and didn’t do much wrong during the match.

LB: Kieran Gibbs – 6

Eden Hazard gave Gibbs problems right the way through the match. This meant that the left-back struggled to get forward into decent positions.

CB: Laurent Koscielny – 5

The defender gave away Chelsea’s first half penalty and was lucky not to be sent off.

CB: Per Mertesacker – 6

The German needs to be more commanding at the back for his side.

CM: Mathieu Flamini – 6

The Frenchman can’t control big matches like the best defensive midfielders.

CM: Jack Wilshere – 8

Wilshere was the Gunners’ star man. He looked lively throughout and was the biggest threat to Chelsea’s goal.

AMC: Mesut Ozil – 4

The German playmaker never really got into the game no matter where he played. Wenger desperately needs him to spark soon if his side are going to fight for silverware this season.

RW: Alexis Sanchez – 6

Made several skillful runs and caused Chelsea a few problems, but needs to do more to justify his price-tag.

LW: Santi Cazorla – 7

The Spaniard was one of the Gunners’ better players. He linked up well with his teammates.

ST: Danny Welbeck – 7

Arsenal’s new striker ran tirelessly throughout but didn’t make much of an impact on the game.

Substitutes

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6

Came on for Cazorla in the 69th minute. He didn’t really do anything wrong when he came on, but wasn’t a threat either.

Lukas Podolski – 5

Came on for Sanchez. The German missed a decent half chance and struggled to get into the game.

Thomas Rosicky – 6

Came on for Wilshere after 82 minutes. The midfielder didn’t have time to affect the outcome of the game.

Manager rating – Arsene Wenger -5

The Frenchman didn’t keep his cool on the touchline and that transferred to his team. His substitutions didn’t make a lot of sense either.
