Iker Casillas being lined up by Liverpool as Victor Valdes alternative
There have been ongoing talks with former FC Barcelona No.1 Valdes, but a backup plan has been planned should negotiations collapse.
According to the Daily Express Real Madrid captain Casillas is being viewed as an alternative, with the 33-year-old out of favour at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
The Spain international is currently competing with Keylor Navas for a place between the sticks for Los Blancos and the Reds view the goalkeeper as the ideal competition for Simon Mignolet.

Reigning Ligue 1 champions PSG are keeping a close eye on contract negotiations between the 19-year-old and the Merseyside outfit.
The club are keen to improve Sterling’s current £43,000-a-week deal – which has two years remaining – but as yet nothing has been agreed.
The Independent reports that the French giants would be prepared to triple the England international’s earnings to convince him to come to the Parc des Princes instead.

With interest from some of Europe’s top sides the Merseysiders may have to give into the forward’s wage demands if they want him to stay at Anfield.
According to the Mirror a £100,000-a-week contract will be offered to Sterling to reward the youngster for his fine form over the past 12 months.
Madrid are understood to be among the clubs interested in the Englishman should things with his current side turn sour.
Minder employed to ensure Mario Balotelli stays out of trouble
The striker – who made his £16m transfer from AC Milan this summer – has a reputation for getting himself into trouble both on and off the pitch.
With this in mind his new club have employed a round the clock minder to ensure the Italy international keeps his nose clean, according to the Mirror.
Balotelli has scored just once since his summer switch and manager Brendan Rodgers has said the 24-year-old needs to improve his form.

The left-back joined the Hammers over the summer from Ipswich Town, but as a youngster he was a fan of the Merseysiders and came through their academy.
Cresswell has impressed at Upton Park since his step up to the Premier League, but has revealed how tough it was being released by his boyhood club.
“I grew up supporting Liverpool and I used to go to games with my dad so it was heartbreaking when I was a kid to be released but in a way it’s helped me get where I am today,” the 24-year-old was quoted by London 24.
