The experienced striker moved to White Hart Lane in a then club record £26m deal but managed to net just six Premier League goals in his debut season in north London, of which four were from the penalty spot, and Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t appear to rate the former Valencia man all that highly.

The 29 year old has managed just 39 minutes of Premier League action thus far this season and one imagines any big bid would be considered by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy but one wonders just how much of a loss Tottenham are ready to make on the player they signed in August 2013.

There is no doubting Soldado’s ability in front of goal, though the sum forked out for the player was indeed excessive, with the forward racking up 81 goals in three seasons at the Mestalla.

Soldado may well be keen on a move back to his native Spain but any side keen on the Tottenham star would presumably have to fork out in excess of half the fee the Premier League side paid for the player a little more than a year ago.
