10 Current Players We Wish Would Come To Play Premier League Football Before Their Careers Finish

Which players are we still desperate to see in the Premier League…

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – one of the most feared footballers on the planet. The giant Swede has scored goals for fun in Holland, Italy, Spain and France, but alas, it seems we will never see him grace the Premier League.

The 33-year-old, who has scored 367 career goals for club and country, had trials with Arsenal in his youth, but insisted in the Guardian yesterday that a move was never close.

With Ibra’ also all but ruling out a move to England in the future, we at CaughtOffside considered the top ten current players we are still desperate to see grace British shores on a permanent basis:

10) Frank Ribery (Bayern Munich)

The French midfielder has been exceptional for Bayern since joining them in 2007, and was one of the key figures behind the club reaching three Champions League finals in the space of just four years.

9) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint Germain)

He may not quite be in the same class as his countryman, Luis Suarez, but the towering Uruguayan is still an exceptional talent, as his goal record for both PSG and Napoli will show you.

8) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

The Frenchman has received plenty of criticism during his time at Real Madrid, and has often had to put up with playing second fiddle to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, but his goal-scoring record is still excellent.

7) Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich)

The World Cup winner is one of the best goalkeepers of all time, revolutionising the term: ‘sweeper keeper’, and winning just about every honour available to him. It would be a pleasure to see him every week in the Premier League.

6) Neymar (Barcelona)

There is still plenty of time for the Brazilian to make his move to England, but having fought so hard to get him you can’t imagine that Barcelona will give him up without a fight. The golden boy of his national team, could he ever grow frustrated with living in Lionel Messi’s shadow?

5) Ronaldinho (Queretaro)

The former hero of the Brazilian national team, who is now plying his trade in Mexico. Having not played for a European team since 2010, our hopes of ever seeing the midfield maestro in the Premier League are small to say the least.

4) Andres Iniesta (Barcelona)

The 2010 World Cup winner has been a cornerstone for club and country for over a decade, along with his midfield partner Xavi Hernandez. With Barcelona slowly moving into a new era of stars, could the time ever come when there is not a place for Iniesta in Catalonia.

3) Andrea Pirlo (Juventus)

The mercurial Andrea Pirlo, who just seems to get better and better with age. The Italian national team have already managed to coax him out of international retirement, could a Premier League team yet lure him away from his home country.

2) Lionel Messi (Barcelona)

Arguably one of the greatest footballers of all time, the Argentine will surely be a one club man and remain at Barcelona for his entire career. Nonetheless, it’s interesting to imagine how he would get on in the Premier League.

1) Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Paris Saint Germain)

The Swedish striker is not only a great footballer, but also a great personality – one that would have undoubtedly gone down brilliantly in English football. I guess you can never say never though!
