Chelsea To Cash In Cech: Six Clubs Who Will Be Fighting To Sign Stopper In January, Including Desperate Liverpool

Some of the world’s biggest clubs are ready to pounce on Czech, who is suddenly surplus to requirements.

Chelsea were delighted to have club hero Petr Cech on the bench on Sunday against Arsenal, as he was able to come on to replace new first-choice keeper, Thibaut Courtois who was forced to come off with a head injury.

Despite his unexpected game-time on Sunday, the Czech goalkeeper will be keen to leave in January, with his career entering its prime and his prospects at Chelsea diminishing. The Blues will also be keen to get rid of him, as having two goalkeepers on big money is not ideal, especially for a club revelling in its surprising new financial prudence.

“I think they know me well enough at Chelsea to know that the situation is definitely not the way I would imagine,” he told Sky Sports

”With the European Championships in 2016 and the national team in mind, there is no time for me to sit on the bench and not to play.”

These six clubs could all do with the legendary stopper…

6) Atletico Madrid

Madrid signed both Miguel Moya and Jan Oblak from to replace Courtois; but the 30-year-old Moya doesn’t have nearly the abilities of the Belgian or of Cech, and 21-year-old Oblak is very inexperienced.

5) AC Milan

Milan signed Diego Lopez in the summer but has had issues, and had a horrible gaffe against Parma in Milan’s crazy 5-4 win. The reliable Cech is exactly what the Italians need.

4) Real Madrid

Madrid are sticking with Iker Casillas, who grows ever more injury and mistake prone. They signed Keylor Navas in the summer, but like every other club on this list, they would struggle to turn down a keeper of Cech’s quality.

3) Monaco

Danijel Subasic has been solid, but is a long way behind Cech in terms of quality. Monaco will enjoy the star-power at a low-price that Cech offers.

2) PSG

Salvatore Sirigu has improved in his time at PSG, but is still far off Cech’s level. If PSG want to make a real impact in the Champions League, a move for Cech is just what they need.

1) Liverpool

Liverpool are struggling in the league, in so small part down to the poor performances of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet. The consensus on the Kop seems to be that the Belgian isn’t up to the job, and the prospect of signing one of the world’s best keepers must be an exciting one for Liverpool fans.
