After beginning his career at Cruzeiro, the forward also represented Wigan Athletic and Werder Bremen during a four year stint in the European leagues. He returned to Brazil with Gremio, and after half a season a Flamengo he eventually re-signed for his boyhood team last winter.

His return to Cruzeiro has been a huge success. Of his 36 goals since returning to Brazil in the summer of 2012, 17 have come in the last ten months. With twelve games remaining in the 2014 Campeonato campaign he leads the top scorers charts, one clear of Palmeiras’ Henrique and two ahead of teammate Ricardo Goulart.

With Champions League experience and goal-scoring pedigree evidenced by 50 career goals in 153 career appearances, there is sure to once again be interest from the European leagues. Whether or not Moreno would want to leave his boyhood side for a second time remains to be seen.
