Nathaniel Clyne, England

With both Glen Johnson and Kyle Walker injured the Southampton right-back has finally earned a call-up that many think is long overdue and the 23-year-old is expected to at least play some part against San Marino and Estonia.

Diego Costa, Spain

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho made a huge scene about the 25-year-old not being selected, but with nine league goals in seven matches this season Vincente del Bosque cannot risk not doing so with Costa in such great form.

Eden Hazard, Belgium

Another star from Stamford Bridge now and despite injuring his toe during the 2-0 victory over Arsenal on Sunday head coach Marc Wilmots has confirmed Hazard will play for his country and that could be bad news for Andorra and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

James McCarthy, Republic of Ireland

It may not have been the best of starts for Everton in 2014/15, but having impressed last year this midfielder is maintaining his good form and can help his country beat minnows Gibraltar and then face a tough test against Germany.

Graziano Pelle, Italy

One of the big stories was the omission of Mario Balotelli from the squad and the inclusion of this striker instead, who has been greatly impressing at St Mary’s this term following a switch from Feyenoord.

Gylfi Sigurdsson, Iceland

Since returning to Swansea City from Tottenham Hotspur this attacking midfielder has had his career reinvigorated and can help his nation finally reach a major international tournament having started well in Group A.

Martin Skrtel, Slovakia

In a potentially difficult group that also contains the Spanish and Ukraine this Liverpool defender’s side have started well and need to maintain that good form in the upcoming two fixtures.

Wojciech Szczesny, Poland

Last time out in the Euros the Poles were co-hosts and therefore did not need to qualify, but with players of the talent of this Arsenal goalkeeper there is no reason they cannot do it properly this time and do well against Germany and Scotland.

Danny Welbeck, England

Another Gunner and another Englishman now, with Welbeck having been in good form of late with a brace last time out for the Three Lions and his first ever career hat-trick in the Champions League and the 23-year-old needs to maintain that.
