Arsenal XI For Next Premier League Match Without The Injured Koscielny And Ozil

The French defender is the latest to be struck down.

There was more bad news for Arsenal as it was announced that defender Laurent Koscielny has pulled out of the France squad to play Portugal and Armenia due to an Achilles injury.

It’s not known how serious the problem is as yet, but if the 28-year-old were to miss the Gunners’ next outing against Hull City in the Premier League on October 18 then he would join seven others on the absentee list.

Therefore here is a predicted XI that Arsene Wenger could pick against the Tigers, taking into account all the fitness concerns.

GK – Wojciech Szczesny

Won’t be playing in the Champions League next time out after being sent off against Galatasaray, but thankfully with fellow goalkeeper David Ospina one of those currently injured the Poland international is available in the league.

RB – Hector Bellerin

The youngster is likely to get another chance at right-back with Mathieu Debuchy out for a lengthy spell and Calum Chambers suspended after picking up five yellow cards.

CB – Per Mertesacker

There will be a lot of pressure on this German’s shoulders in the absence of usual central defensive partner Koscielny and Mertesacker is likely to be named as captain as well.

CB – Nacho Monreal

Has been injured himself recently, but should be available for the Hull clash and although usually a left-back the Spaniard will be tasked with filling in more centrally.

LB – Kieran Gibbs

Another established figure now with Gibbs being the first choice left-back at the Emirates Stadium regardless of injuries.

CM – Mathieu Flamini

Skipper Mikel Arteta is another absent from the first team at the moment and although it will be touch and go to see if the 32-year-old is fit, we’ve opted for Flamini to be on the safe side.

CM – Jack Wilshere

Alongside the Frenchman is a midfielder who has started the campaign very promisingly and with Aaron Ramsey out much will be expected of Wilshere going forward.

RM – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

This England international has appeared in every game for the North London outfit so far and with Mesut Ozil out for three months the 20-year-old should get a starting role.

CAM – Santi Cazorla

One positive of Ozil’s knee injury is that this Spain international will be able to revert back to his usual No.10 role where he has been so creative in the past.

LM – Alexis Sanchez

The workmanlike attitude of Sanchez makes the South American a very useful asset both with and without the ball and many will be looking to him for inspiration without Ozil and Ramsey available.

ST – Danny Welbeck

Was fairly ineffective last time out against Chelsea, but since a £16m deadline day transfer from Manchester United this forward has genuinely showed good form and with Olivier Giroud also out his role is even more important.
