Wayne Rooney ready to beat Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton’s all-time England scoring record

Ahead of the Euro 2016 qualifiers with San Marino and Estonia the forward has declared he is targeting Charlton’s 49 goal record.

Rooney currently has 41 strikes for his country and doesn’t think reaching the milestone is an unrealistic target.

“It would be massive for me and make my family proud. Hopefully one day I will be sat here having broken the record,” the 28-year-old was quoted by the Sun.

Sir Alex Ferguson says Louis van Gaal is right to break the team up that he built

For the first time since the Dutchman’s appointment managerial legend Ferguson has spoken publicly about van Gaal and his tenure at Old Trafford.

The 63-year-old has wasted little time putting his own stamp on the squad, spending £151.7m on new talent and axing many of the players that Sir Alex nurtured.

“Louis van Gaal has made a lot of changes and, thinking about that, actually maybe he’s doing the right thing, to clear the decks and build his own team. Because he’s got the experience and coaching ability to do that,” the Scot was quoted by the Telegraph.

AS Roma say Kevin Strootman is not for sale an any price

The midfielder has been targeted by the Red Devils for some time and there has been plenty of back and fourth about whether Roma will actually part with him or not.

Now Roma owner James Pallotta has got involved once again and has said in no uncertain terms that Strootman will not be leaving the Stadio Olimpico.

“It is just not happening. We don’t have any interest in selling Kevin,” Pallotta was quoted by the Mirror.

Tyler Blackett says the United squad are in awe of Angel di Maria

Di Maria became the most expensive player in British history this summer when he signed from Real Madrid for a whopping £59.7m.

Since then the Argentina international has impressed with three goals and three assists in five matches and young defender Blackett has heaped praise on the 26-year-old.

“He’s one of the world’s best players and the things that he does in training really make us stop and stare,” the 20-year-old was quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger admits the Red Devils interest him

The 13-time Premier League champions are joined by Chelsea and West Ham United in the pursuit of the 21-year-old, but it is the former who the German has mentioned by name.

Rudiger has been impressing in the Bundesliga and both AS Monaco and Juventus have made attempts to try and sign him, whilst Bayern Munich are also believed to be interested.

“Of course I am aware of the interest from Manchester United. They are definitely one of the top clubs in Europe and they are in a league I have been dreaming of,” the starlet was quoted by the Daily Express.
