4. Chelsea

Of all the clubs linked with Cavani, Chelsea appear to be his least likely destination. Jose Mourinho already has Diego Costa, Didier Drogba and Loic Remy up front and it is unlikely the Uruguayan would want to compete with them for a starting spot. However, Mourinho may end up wanting additional attacking resources should Costa’s hamstring problems persist.

3. Manchester United

Like Chelsea, Manchester United are blessed with lots of attacking resources and will only end up making a move for Cavani should one of Louis van Gaal’s strikers suffer a long term injury. The former Barcelona boss needs to strengthen his defence and that is likely to be where most of his money is spent in January.

3. Liverpool

The Reds desperately need to sign some attacking reinforcements following Luis Suarez departure. Although Mario Balotelli was brought to replace the Uruguay international, he has only scored one goal in eight games and it is becoming obvious that the Italian doesn’t suit the Reds style of play. Cavani would be a better fit for Liverpool but after spending so much in the summer, it is unknown whether Liverpool would have the funds to pay for the 27-year-old.

1. Arsenal

The Gunners performance against Chelsea at the weekend showed that they still need to spend money before they can be genuine title contenders.  Mesut Ozil has also been ruled out for three months, stretching Arsene Wenger’s resources to the limit. Signing Cavani would make so much sense as the striker would fit Arsenal’s style of play and add much needed quality to their squad.
