With no Premier League or Championship fixtures this weekend, the focus is firmly on the remainder of the football league. One of the most intriguing matches takes place this lunchtime, when Cambridge face Oxford.

The League Two rivals are both still looking over their shoulders after difficult starts to the season, and are therefore as desperate as ever to pick up three points in their match today.

Cambridge, who were promoted from the Conference Premier via the playoffs last season, are currently 16th in the table, with 14 points from their first 11 matches.

Last time out the U’s scored a shock 3-1 victory over promotion chasing Burton Albion, ending a streak of three successive defeats. Tom Elliott scored twice, while Ryan Donaldson ensured that Burton would lose their 100% home record.

Oxford have certainly endured a disappointing campaign thus far, especially considering that they narrowly missed out on a playoff place during their previous campaign. They begun this season by losing their first four games.

However, they have recovered to lose just one in their last seven: winning two and drawing four of the other six matches. They too were victorious last time out, beating Newport County 1-0. The result took them to ten points, one clear of the relegation zone in 20th place.
