Liverpool’s Superb New-Look XI After January Signings, With Cabaye, New Goalkeeper & Balotelli Replacement

How Liverpool could look with January signings.

Liverpool are reportedly plotting some big-name additions for the January transfer window, with Brendan Rodgers in need of strengthening after a difficult start to the new season.

The Reds have not adequately replaced Luis Suarez after his £75m move to Barcelona and look likely to strengthen in attack, with Mario Balotelli possibly losing his place to one of the club’s top targets.

Meanwhile, there are further changes in midfield and in goal, with a run-through of Liverpool’s potential new XI below:

Goalkeeper and defence:

With Simon Mignolet failing to convince, Liverpool look likely to bring in a top class new signing in goal as they pursue the free transfer of former Barcelona star Victor Valdes, who would surely then become the club’s new number one. Elsewhere in defence, the Reds are unchanged with no real targets emerging in recent transfer news.

Midfield:

Unhappy with not being a regular at Paris Saint-Germain, former Newcastle United playmaker Yohan Cabaye could be on his way back to the Premier League and is supposedly on Liverpool’s radar. The Reds could do with a top class creative midfield player to partner Steven Gerrard, and there’s no doubt the Frenchman would fit in well at Anfield.

Attack:

The man who appears to be Liverpool’s first choice to replace Luis Suarez is Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain. The Argentine hot-shot has been linked with Arsenal in the past but is now looking Anfield-bound as Brendan Rodgers grows more and more concerned about the poor form of Mario Balotelli, who could be relegated to the bench as Higuain partners Daniel Sturridge.
