CDM – Jack Wilshere
Is being asked by Hodgson to operate in a role he is unfamiliar with, but the 22-year-old is working hard to make a success of it and against the Estonians it should be a great time for the Gunners man to gain experience.
CM – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
James Milner was deployed against San Marino, but the workmanlike attitude of the Citizens midfielder wasn’t needed and Oxlade-Chamberlain looked like a much more exciting prospect when he came on, providing the assist for the third goal.
CM – Jordan Henderson
Is trying to take up the mantle left by the recently retired Steven Gerrard and although nowhere near as good a passer as his Liverpool skipper, Henderson does have many other similar attributes to the 34-year-old.
CAM – Raheem Sterling
This new diamond formation appears to be working for Hodgson and Sterling is increasingly becoming more of a creative No.10 than the winger we were used to seeing and the country’s most exciting player needs to be in a pivotal role.
