Potential Arsenal XI Post-January Transfer Window: £85m Worth Of New Signings Could Make Them Title Contenders

Despite a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Chelsea in their last game, Arsenal have shown in flashes this year that they are capable of adding to last season’s FA Cup triumph.

Indeed, if manager Arsene Wenger is able to sign his three major January targets: Julian Draxler, Karim Bezema and Sami Khedira – then the Gunners will undoubtedly be title contenders.

CaughtOffside predicts the North London giants potential XI after the window – with no room for their record signing or a major summer purchase:

GK) Wojciech Szczesny

A solid presence in the Arsenal team with decent back-up waiting in the wings, no need for the Gunners to strengthen.

RB) Mathieu Debuchy

Started his Arsenal career well and the Gunners will be delighted when the Frenchman returns from injury.

LB) Kieran Gibbs

One of the best left-backs in the country so far this season, and fully deserves his place in the team, with Nacho Monreal as back-up.

CB) Per Mertesacker

Despite some criticism early in the season, the World Cup winner has steadily improved and proves he deserves to remain in the team for the time being.

CB) Laurent Koscielny

The Gunners most reliable and consistent defender, but how the Gunners need some addition back-up to help their aging centre back partnership.

CM) Sami Khedira

The Real Madrid anchor man has endured a lengthy transfer saga linking him with the Gunners, who would love to finally complete a £10m move in January.

CM) Jack Wilshere

After a lenthy battle with injuries, the England international is looking back at his best, and this could be a huge season for the young midfielder.

RW) Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal’s summer signing has been consistently impressive in the last couple of months, despite a slow start to his Gunners career. They will be hoping the Chilean continues to improve.

AM) Aaron Ramsey

Currently sidelined through injury, but is perfectly capable of taking on a more advanced return when he does come back. Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla could miss out as a result.

LW) Julian Draxler

An out and out wide-player who will take over from Ozil on the left flank, allowing his countryman to move inside or even miss out on the team all together. Will cost around £35m.

ST) Karim Benzema

Could reduce Danny Welbeck to the substitutes bench, as the £40m man will demand to start. The Englishman could be used out wide, alongside Benzema, or as an impact sub.
