(Video) Luxembourg 0-4 Spain: Diego Costa Grabs His First Goal As Spain Return To Form

A comfortable victory for Spain in Luxembourg as they eased the pressure on manager Vicente del Bosque.

Spain bounced back from their shock defeat against Slovakia in Bratislava last week with a convincing win over minnows Luxembourg this evening, a result that never looked in doubt once David Silva had opened the scoring mid-way through the first half, the home side’s five-man defence eventually succumbing to the waves of Spanish pressure.

Del Bosque shuffled his pack slightly for this one, playing both Diego Costa and young Valencia forward Paco Alcacer from the start in a clear deviation from the tiki-taka based system that had previously been the order of the day for La Roja.

It largely worked early on against a Luxembourg side who were content to sit deep and try and soak up pressure, Spain creating and squandering numerous chances before Manchester City man David Silva scored the pick of the game’s goals from the edge of the box with a crisp strike:

 

This would’ve been plenty of icing on the Spanish cake, but they did more to make del Bosque smile right at the end when another player got his first Spain goal – Bayern Munich full back Juan Bernat running in behind and slotting home for a goal on his competitive debut for his country, rounding off a thoroughly satisfactory evening for Spain:
