5. Jonny Evans – 7.31

There could be a few raised eyebrows at this inclusion as Evans has hardly showered himself in glory this term, but according to the stats the Northern Ireland international is the fifth best player at Louis van Gaal’s disposal.

4. Rafael – 7.37

Another defender now and the only natural right-back at Old Trafford currently and in recent times the Brazilian has impressed going forward, although needs to work on his involvement at the back.

3. Ander Herrera – 7.89

Having been strongly linked with the Red Devils for some time the midfielder finally completed his move from Athletic Bilbao over the summer and has impressed so far with two goals and one assist.

2. Phil Jones – 8.02

United have looked very shaky in defence, but this 22-year-old is the only one to have really impressed at the back and his current injury is causing a real headache for van Gaal.

1. Angel di Maria – 8.05

Top of the pile is an Argentine who became the most expensive player in British transfer history this summer upon completing his £59.7m switch from Real Madrid, but three goals and three assists in five appearances suggests he could well be worth it.
