Here is an XI of the best.

GK – Tim Krul, Newcastle United – arm injury

The Newcastle No.1 is one of the most experienced players in Alan Pardew’s team now and that will be needed as the Magpies look to improve their form.

RB – Mathieu Debuchy, Arsenal – ankle injury

Signed from St James’ Park as a replacement for Bacary Sagna and started well, but has since been cruelly sidelined and has left Arsene Wenger with a selection headache.

CB – Phil Jones, Manchester United – hamstring injury

Has been the only real positive at the back for the Red Devils so far and therefore Louis van Gaal needs the England international back as soon as possible.

CB – Dejan Lovren, Liverpool – abdominal strain

May need to do a bit more before he convinces the Reds fans of his talent, but is the best option at the back ahead of Mamadou Sakho.

LB – Jon Flanagan, Liverpool – knee injury

Left-back is actually an area where there aren’t too many problems across the English top tier, but after starring there last term we feel it’s fair to include Flanagan.

CM – James Ward-Prowse, Southampton – ankle injury

The latest product from a prolific Saints academy this midfielder is tipped for great things and still just 19-years-old.

CM – Aaron Ramsey, Arsenal – hamstring injury

The Gunners are really struggling in terms for fitness currently and Ramsey is another key player who is absent.

CM – Ander Herrera, Manchester United – fractured rib

Since a £29m move from Athletic Bilbao over the summer this midfielder has been impressing and has two goals and an assist for his new club.

RM – Kevin Mirallas, Everton – hamstring injury

Having started the campaign well it must have frustrated manager Roberto Martinez to see the Belgium international struck down just as the Toffees need to improve their form.

LM – Mesut Ozil, Liverpool – knee injury

For the purpose of this team we’ve had to move Ozil out to the left – something Wenger often favours – with the German out for three months with a knee problem.

ST – Olivier Giroud, Arsenal – ankle injury

Completing a quartet of stars from the Emirates Stadium is this striker who was injured early on in the season and could be out until 2015.
