Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez wants a reunion with Glen Johnson at Napoli

Benitez is looking to bolster his squad in the January transfer window and is looking to the Premier League for reinforcements.

The Spaniard wants both right-back Johnson and Manchester City midfielder James Milner, who are both out of contract next summer, according to the Mirror.

The two England internationals are free to start talking to foreign clubs in the New Year and Benitez hopes they choose Naples as their next destination.

Luis Suarez says the Reds cannot win the title without him

The FC Barcelona forward has revealed that he believes Brendan Rodgers’ side would not have come anywhere near to winning the English title in 2013/14 without his help.

Suarez scored 31 league goals and was named PFA Player of the Year last term as the Merseyside outfit finished second in the table, before completing a £75m switch to the Nou Camp.

“If I hadn’t had the attitude and mentality to lead the team, I don’t think Liverpool would have done as well as they did,” the Uruguay international was quoted by the Mirror.

There was much controversy ahead of England’s Euro 2016 qualifier with Estonia on Sunday as Sterling did not start because he was tired.

Reports are that Rodgers thinks his players should have a two day break after an international match, but both Scholes and Hodgson disagree with this sentiment.

“If you are 19 years old like Raheem Sterling, or even 25 years old like Daniel Sturridge, you do not need a two-day recovery after playing a game,” the former midfielder wrote in the Independent.

Jordan Henderson praises captain Steven Gerrard for his influence

Henderson was named as Gerrard’s understudy as skipper this season after impressing for Rodgers’ side over the past 12 months.

The 24-year-old is seen as the natural successor to take the armband one day and has praised the influence of the former England international.

“Being around him has benefited me a lot. It’s been huge. Every day I watch him. It’s his desire to improve,” Henderson was quoted by the Daily Star.

Mario Balotelli congratules Graziano Pelle for Italy goal

The Reds striker was moved to praise the Southampton star after he netted on his debut for the Italians in the Euro 2016 qualifier with Malta on Monday.

Pelle has taken Balotelli’s place in Antonio Conte’s squad, but there is clearly no hard feelings as the 24-year-old took to Instagram.
