6) Toni Kroos – Germany

The German may not have been on the winning side, but frankly can look on his team-mates with disgust. The midfielder controlled the game for 90 minutes, completing 119 passes, 2 crosses, and 5 of 6 long balls. Oh, and he scored what should have been the winner.

5) Gareth Bale – Wales

The Welsh wonder withstood a hefty battering from the Cyprus players and still managed to produce the assist of the round, delicately flitting the ball through the opposition defence with his heel to set up his country’s winner.

4) Gylfi Sigurdsson – Iceland

The Ice-men roll on, lead by the Swansea talisman, who continued his amazing scoring run this season with another brace.

3) John O’Shea – Ireland

John O’Shea won his 100th cap, and then 90 minutes later popped up to score a last-kick-of-the-game equaliser against the World Champions. Not a bad day.

2) Cristiano Ronaldo – Portugal

Putting O’Shea’s 100 caps to shame, Ronaldo became the first athlete to accumulate 100m Facebook fans, celebrating by scoring his EIGHTEENTH, yes, that’s EIGHTEENTH goal of the season. It is mid-October.

1) Kyle Lafferty – Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland have just won their third successive group game, putting themselves in a great position to qualify for Euro 2016 before the we’ve even reached the end of 2014. Lafferty is the man they have to thank for another stunning win, he worked ceaselessly, preventing the Greeks from building any sort of rhythm – and most importantly he scored Northern Ireland’s second, streaking clear of the defence and slotting fearlessly. Bravo.
