(Video) Serbia vs Albania: Brutal Violence Breaks Out On The Pitch, Players Pelted With Missiles

Video of the awful violence in the Euro 2016 qualifier has surfaced.

The news that the Serbia – Albania Euro 2016 qualifier had been called off due to a “drone carrying an Albanian flag” being flown over the pitch was initially met with incredulity, but this has quickly turned to horror as the violence that unfolded on the pitch in the moments following the event has become clear.

Videos show the players gathering in the middle of the field as increasing numbers of wild young men run unto the pitch. As this vine shows, the Albanian players made a break for the tunnel and are pelted with objects from the stands and even attacked by a topless thug as they try to escape.

English referee Martin Atkinson called the game off after it became clear it would be unsafe to continue. Staff at FIFA headquarters in Zurich are preparing for a very long day tomorrow.
