Goalkeeper: Michel Vorm

Hugo Lloris suffered a thigh strain while on international duty with France. He will start if he passes a late fitness test, but, in the likely case that he fails, Vorm will make his first Premier League appearance for Spurs.

Right-back: Eric Dier

Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton are both sidelined, so England Under-21 star Dier will make his sixth Premier League start.

Left-back: Danny Rose

Rose has started all seven of Tottenham’s league games this term.

Centre-back: Younes Kaboul

He’s the captain and he’s in superb form. Definite starter.

Centre-back: Jan Vertonghen

Spurs will need the Belgian rock to be at his brilliant best to tame City’s devastating attack.

Midfield: Etienne Capoue

Capoue was expected to be bombed out this summer, but he has played his way in Pochettino’s good books and he is now among the first names on the Argentine’s teamsheet.

Midfield: Mousa Dembele

Ryan Mason has started Tottenham’s last two league games, but Pochettino would be wise to bring back the experience and power of Dembele, now that the Belgian is fully fit.

Attacking midfield: Christian Eriksen

Danish playmaker Eriksen was criticised by his national team boss recently, but he is Tottenham’s main man and he will start for sure.

Attacking midfield: Erik Lamela

Lamela has shown real signs of improvement this season, but he yet to score his first Premier League goal. He will be given the chance to break his duck at the Etihad.

Attacking midfield: Andros Townsend

Chadli is doubtful, so Townsend, who has the pace to scare City on the break, could come in.

Forward: Emmanuel Adebayor

When he is fired up, he can be unplayable. Keep your eye on Adebayor as he is unleashed on his former club. Fireworks are almost guaranteed.
